Awesome giveaway at One Bored Mommy!


When I was a kid no one wore a helmet. Not saying things were better then, just a fact. We didn't ride in car seats, we played on metal playground equipment with cold hard cement underneath, and we didn't wear helmets when we rode our bikes. I was never hurt doing those things, (at least not badly enough that I remember it).

I say all this because soon it will be time to get Toddler Lentil a bike and it came with the realization that that means buying her a helmet too. I've seen giveaways for bikes often enough, but they almost never come with a helmet.

Now the bike in question: it's a Strider No Pedal Balance Bike. I won't do a treatise on the art of balance bikes, but the gist is this: Instead of learning to pedal on a bike with training wheels, kids learn to balance on a bike with no pedals. It is sooo much easier to add the pedaling than to learn the balancing. In fact, the balance bike striding is the same action that needs to be learned to ride a bicycle.
